How does ComCierge connect to nurse call?
A unit called the SmartHub plugs into the same port that your pillow speaker plugs in, and sends the same commands, all from the patient’s tablet or phone.
Can we still use the pillow speaker?
Yes, ComCierge can run alongside your existing pillow speakers using a splitter.
Where do the messages and requests go?
If a request can be placed on your existing pillow speaker (like Pain or Water), it will follow the same exact workflow – illuminating the dome light and displaying at the nurse terminals. All other requests can be sent to an app on nurse devices, or to your existing nurse workflow software.
Can patients use other apps alongside?
Yes – ComCierge is designed to be one app amongst other entertainment, education, meal ordering and healthcare apps used on the hospital iPad.
How does a patient access ComCierge on their own phone?
ComCierge can be downloaded as an app for hospital owned iPads, or accessed on a web browser for personal devices via a QR code or a pre-admission link.
Is an EHR connection required?
No – most ComCierge features do not require EHR, however it is required for personalized care features including care team & schedule displays, and other EHR-managed resources.

Rauland Responder 4 & 5, Hillrom and Westcom.
How does the video feature work?
Care team members can initiate a video call to the patient from their own device, a nurse station iPad or a HallMonitor. The patient is prompted (even if the ComCierge app is not open), and given the choice to accept or reject the call.
Search for “HatchMed” on the App Store, and download the “ComCierge Patient” app (red icon with a cross in the middle). Use the provided log in on the home screen, it will follow the format of “patient@facility.com”. Select which room to assign this device to and select your preferred language to start.
Note: ComCierge Patient is only available for iPads, and an internet connection is required for use.
ComCierge BYOD
Simply scan the QR code matching the appropriate patient room, and the device will be automatically connected to the room’s nurse call system.

Search for “HatchMed” on the App Store, and download the “ComCierge CareTeam” app (blue icon with a cross in the middle). Use the provided log in on the home screen, it will follow the format of “charge@facility.com”. Manage supervised rooms by clicking the “Bays” tab on the right, click “Manage Bays”, and select the appropriate patient rooms.
